Fred E. Petrunak, O.D.
Born in Massillon, OH, "Dr. Fred" grew up in Altoona, was an Eagle Scout, and a National Honor Society graduate of BGHS in 1970. He then graduated from Penn State in 1974 (B.S. Biology), and in 1978 from PA College of Optometry via military scholarship.
Dr. Fred's professional career began as a Captain in the US Army where he earned the Army Commendation Medal. He returned to Altoona, joined Dr. Arnold Berman in private practice and upon Dr. Arnold Berman's retirement in 1985, had his own office in downtown Altoona until merging with Dr. Satryan to form Mountain View Eye Associates in 1998. After 31 years of practice, Dr. Fred is at ease in treating people's vision problems of all ages- from infants to the elderly. He loves both people and technology, and has been voted by Altoona Mirror readers a "Hometown Favorite Optometrist" finalist every year from 2002 through 2009, while winning the actual award in 2003, 2004, and 2006, 2008, and 2009.
Dr. Fred is married to Linda Burns of Rochester, NY. They are the parents of six children! They live in Altoona- near Penn State Altoona Campus. Dr. Fred's hobbies are personal fitness (especially running), reading, watching sports, listening to music, and cutting the grass. |

Michael A. Satryan, O.D.
Dr. Satryan attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated in 1980 with a degree in biology. He then attended the PA College of Optometry where he graduated in 1984. He received the Skeffington Award for outstanding student in pediatric optometry and the Alumni Award for academic excellence.
Upon graduation, Dr. Satryan started a solo practice in Altoona. In 1998, he merged his practice with Dr. Petrunak to create Mountain View Eye Associates. He is a past president of the local optometric society and has served on the state education committee.
He is active in the community as well. He is a past president of the Rotary Club of Hollidaysburg and is a former board member of the Blair County Association for the Blind and Visually Handicapped. He is active in Zion Lutheran Church where he has been council president and currently serves on the youth board. He is now in his sixth year serving on the board of directors of Camp Sequanota in Jennerstown, PA.
Most importantly, he enjoys spending time with his wife Marcia and their daughters Amanda and Lindsay.
Dr. Satryan has a special interest in children's vision, contact lens fitting challenges, and orthokeratology. |

Shawn D. Jones, O.D.
Dr. Jones grew up in the Altoona area and graduated from the Altoona Area High School. He attended Penn State University and graduated with a B.S. degree in 1995. He then attended the PA College of Optometry where he graduated in 1999. Dr. Jones was awarded a four-year academic scholarship by the Berwind Foundation in 1991 and again in 1997.
Upon graduation, Dr. Jones began practicing at Kilmore Eye Associates in Mechanicsburg, PA. In August 2002, he returned to his hometown, Altoona, to join Mountain View Eye Associates. In January 2007, Dr. Jones became a partner/owner of the practice.
Dr. Jones is a member of the American Optometric Association, PA Optometric Association, and his local optometric society. He is also a member of C.V.S. Doctors and a certified computer vision specialist. Dr. Jones has a special interest in children's vision, LASIK surgery, and computer vision syndrome. Dr. Jones is an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Hollidaysburg. He is involved in the "Kids of the Kingdom" children's ministry program.
Dr. Jones enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife Jennifer, son Jeremy, and daughter Emily. |
